On a whim, I looked up the word copious.
As it turns out, the chemistry professor that first introduced me to the word was emphatic that it meant the property of being visible. The instance where it was used was seeing copious green chlorine gas eminating from a particular chemical reaction. I remember this somewhat clearly, and I also remember him making a stink about the word copious. Well, Merriam-Webster thinks otherwise. They don't even mention anything about the property of being visible.
I'm so distraught. How will I ever face my phamily again? I've been misusing this word for so long...I even sometimes cringe when I hear somebody (mis)use it because I know I'm so right, and they're so wrong. I'll now have to retrain my gag reflex not to trigger at the sound of that word anymore.
..now I'm really late for work!
